Named Artisan of the Year in 2004 and 2006 by the Professional Photographers of North Carolina and chosen Artist of the Year in 2005 by the Franklin County Arts Council, Cheryl Hight has garnered awards in every medium, including photographic oils, freehand oils, porcelain, and most recently, watercolor. Cheryl now applies her talents to watercolor portraiture and her piece entitled “The Serb” was named Best in Show by the Kerr Lake Art Society in November 2007. Additionally, in May 2008, the painting was juried in to the Watercolor USA held at the Springfield Art Museum in Springfield, Missouri.

While Cheryl has had no formal artistic training, she has developed her skills through classes and continuing workshops and enjoys teaching and sharing her knowledge with others.

Cheryl is a member of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina, Southern Watercolor Society, Professional Photographers of NC, Professional Photographers of America, Carolina Artist Guild, and International Porcelain Artist & Teachers, Inc.

When she is not painting, Cheryl and her husband Sam are involved in breeding and raising Welsh Pony hunter prospects with their imported stallion Pajon’s Buccaneer. They enjoy spending time with their daughter Stephanie who lives in Raleigh and  their “extended children” Shane and his wife Caroline and 2 ½ year old “granddaughter” Lexy – who is looking to be a chip off her Mimi’s block with the art and the horses!
