Wake Forest artist, Alison McCauley, paints in oils and works in clay. Among her favorite subjects are portrait based figurative work, street scenes, animals and genre scenes. Alison has always found the greatest challenge and satisfaction in painting and sculpting people, but anything with an interesting play of light mat catch her attention.
Alison has been a professional artist for over 30 years. After earning a BA in Art at the University of North Florida, she worked primarily in clay. From 1995-2003 she owned and operated McCauley Pottery, a gallery and studio in Summerville, SC. There she taught classes, and produced and sold her own work as well as the work of other artists. She also sold her work through galleries and craft fairs around the region. Of her clay work, she is best known for her face pots and decorative vases.
In the early 2000’s, Alison started exploring painting in oils and since then, painting has become her primary creative focus.
McCauley is a North Carolina native, born in Wilmington. She has recently moved to Wake Forest from Summerville, SC, just outside of Charleston. Alison works in her home studio.
